Pere Renom

“We have given you, O Adam, no visage proper to yourself, nor endowment properly your own, in order that whatever place, whatever form, whatever gifts you may, with premeditation, select, these same you may have and possess through your own judgement and decision […] We have made you a creature neither of heaven nor of earth, neither mortal nor immortal, in order that you may, as the free and proud shaper of your own being, fashion yourself in the form you may prefer.”
Oration on the Dignity of Man – Giovanni Pico della Mirandola

Mobile 5G

published on 26 06 2019

The Mobile World Congress is one of the most important technological events in the world. Since 2006 it is celebrated in Barcelona. The “Quèquicom” program visits it to find out where mobile phones are moving on. In relation to design, they have not moved much in recent years. All companies have very similar models, with flat glass screens and a tactile interface. The novelty is the folding mobile. The great protagonist, however, of this edition is the 5G, the fifth generation mobile technology. It is expected to start deploying in 2020, it will be faster than optic fiber, it will admit a large volume of data and a latency, or response time, of milliseconds. With these features will enable smart cities, augmented reality video games, home automation, telesurgery, or autonomous driving. The 5G is expected to revolutionize telecommunications and consolidate the internet of things. Apart from continuing to increase profits to telecommunications companies, of course.
